Farolane is built privacy-first. The short version: the free tools run entirely in your browser — no signup, no upload. If you create an optional account, we store only what you explicitly choose to sync.
Prices, costs, shipping figures, categories, profit goals and any CSV you upload to the Catalog Analyzer are processed entirely on your device, in your browser. Without an account, we do not receive, transmit, or store this information on any server.
Without an account, the tools keep only small preferences on your own device in your browser's localStorage — for example your theme choice (light/dark) and whether you've dismissed a prompt. Clearing your browser storage removes them. Nothing in this category is uploaded. Saving scenarios and catalogs is a paid-plan feature that stores them in your account (see section 3).
Accounts are optional and never required for the free tools. If you sign up (email magic link or Google), we store: your email address, your chosen home market/currency, and the scenarios and catalog SKUs you explicitly save or sync to the cloud. This data is stored with our database provider (Supabase), scoped to your account, and used only to provide sync, the account dashboard, and — if you enable it — Watchdog alert emails about fee changes affecting your saved items (sent via Resend). You can delete saved data from your dashboard at any time; after a subscription ends, synced data is retained for 12 months and then deleted.
Subscriptions are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. We never see or store your card details. Dodo handles payment data under its own privacy policy, and is the seller of record for your subscription — it issues invoices and manages applicable VAT/GST/sales tax.
We use PostHog, a product analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic and feature usage. It stores an anonymous identifier in your browser's local storage (not a tracking cookie) to keep a session's activity connected as you move between pages; this identifier is not linked to your identity unless you create an account. It does not track you across other websites, and we do not sell data.
Blog and educational content pages show ads via Google AdSense to keep the tools free. Ads never appear inside the calculators themselves, and subscribers see no ads at all. Google may use cookies or identifiers for ad serving as described in Google's ad policies; where required by your region, a consent prompt applies.
Fee-schedule and source links point to third-party sites (marketplaces, carriers, tax authorities). Their privacy practices are their own; we encourage you to review them.
Farolane is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above, and notify account holders by email where the change affects stored data.
