How we compare Amazon.de and Kaufland.de

Both figures come from the same calculation: order revenue minus commission on whichever base the platform actually uses, minus per-order and payment fees, minus the consumption tax sitting inside your price where that applies, minus your product cost and shipping. No midpoints are invented — where a marketplace publishes a band, you see the band.

GERMANY ONLY, re-sourced from amazon.de’s own pricing page this pass. It was amazon-eu, one euro record standing in for Germany, the Netherlands, France and others with VAT approximated at 20%; that could not honestly carry per-country fulfilment, since German local, European Fulfilment Network and Pan-EU differ by about 3x on the same weight band. It now carries real German VAT at 19%, the Germany-only fulfilment table and the German digital services treatment. France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands are NOT modelled and the UI says so rather than implying coverage. The old id amazon-eu still resolves here via the alias. A German-established seller selling in the German store pays NO digital services fee, which is why there is no catch-all row. Several thresholds genuinely differ from the UK and were corrected: furniture breaks at €200 not £175, jewellery and watches at €250 not £225, automotive at €50 not £45, and tools are 13% not 15%. Not modelled: the Prime/FBA clothing variant (15% to €45 then 7% above) and the 13% furniture-accessory and door/window sub-rates. CORRECTED: the published commission band for the main markets (DE, AT, CZ, SK, FR, IT, ES, NL) is 7 to 16%, with jewellery highest. The 4 to 12% band carried here since July was the POLAND band, which is a different market. Categories Kaufland does not list are a flat 13% in the main markets. Commission is charged on the gross sales price INCLUDING delivery charges, and only on completed sales. Plans are €39.95 Basic and €59.95 Plus, both plus VAT and both including a €30 monthly ads credit. Media carries an extra flat €0.70 per item, which is category-specific and not modelled. Category sub-ranges within the official band remain estimates.

FAQ

Is Amazon.de or Kaufland.de cheaper for sellers?

On a €27.99 product costing €7.00 with €4.50 shipping, Kaufland.de nets about €8.19 per unit versus €7.63 on Amazon.de — a gap of roughly €0.56. That ordering can flip with a different price or category, so run your own numbers before committing.

What commission does each charge?

Amazon.de charges 15% in the general category and Kaufland.de charges 13%. Both vary by category — the full table on this page lists every one.

Do the fees include tax?

Yes. In Europe your listed price is VAT-inclusive, so the tax inside the price is removed from revenue before margin is calculated.

Can I sell on both?

Yes, and most established sellers do — the point of comparing is knowing which one deserves your ad budget and your best pricing. The Goal Planner can split a monthly profit target across both channels at once.
